How to Configure Employee Count and Safety Metrics for OSHA Related Reporting: 4 Options
This overview explains OSHA safety record-keeping requirements and the available options in the EHS-Dashboard™ for configuring and tracking safety metrics.
Since 1970 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires employers to keep records of occupational deaths, injuries, and illnesses. The records are used by employers and employees to implement safety and health programs at your workplace. Analysis of the data allows employees to identify workplace safety and health problems, and for tracking progress in solving those problems.
The EHS-Dashboard™ provides several configuration options for health & safety data, so you can choose the option that works best for your program! Regardless of the option you ultimately choose, you will need at least the following information ready so that safety metrics like the following are calculated appropriately in the platform:
- Monthly employee count
- Number of OSHA reportable incidents
- Number of lost time incidents
- Number of lost workdays
Employee Count Configuration options are as follows: (Additional information about each is provided via a link under each option)
Safety Metric Configuration Option 1: Configuring Safety Metrics Without Using EHS-Dashboard Incident Forms or a Contact List
Directly Input Monthly Totals for Employee count, OSHA reportable incidents, Lost time incidents, Number of lost workdays- When to use this option: Use this configuration if you do not use or intend to use incident/event reporting forms in the platform but still would like to track high-level data about incidents in the EHS-Dashboard™.
